Lone Star is one of New Zealand's iconic restaurant chains, with 25 locations across the country. With a new website on the horizon, they wanted to create a modern site that aligned with their brand and values but kicked things up a notch with some visual updates and a more user-centric approach. We’ve worked with Lone Star on various projects for almost 10 years and jumped at the chance to take on this exciting challenge.

The new site had several requirements including an improved representation of the Lone Star brand, an intuitive, mobile-first user experience, loyalty program integration and a cohesive digital ecosystem to connect their various digital systems to a better customer experience. We began with extensive research, including stakeholder interviews, customer journey mapping, and a detailed analysis of Lone Star’s digital ecosystem. This groundwork informed every aspect of the redesign.

As part of the initially planning stages, our creative team dove into the world of Lone Star and worked through the process of updating the brand without losing any of the unique identity they’re so proud. Rather than looking to change the brand, we looked for ways to enhance it, bringing the big cowboy Kiwi fun to life – all with the new website in mind.

The website underwent a complete UX and visual design overhaul, including the creation of wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs that were tested and refined based on user feedback. During the design phase, we also planned the integration of the loyalty program and booking systems. The goal was to ensure a seamless digital experience that encourages repeat visits and higher customer loyalty.
